International conference HISTORY, CULTURE AND HERITAGE OF MANORS IN CENTRAL EASTERN EUROPE

The international conference “History, Culture and Heritage of Manors in Central Eastern Europe” will be held from 24 to 26 April 2025 at Vytautas Magnus University (Aula Magna, Gimnazijos g. 7, Kaunas) and Panemune Castle.
The aim of the conference is to present the latest research results of scholars from various fields of research on the history, culture, art and heritage of manors in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, and to invite an international debate on current issues in this field. Forty scholars from Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Hungary and independent researchers will present papers on aspects of manorial architecture and art, manorial society and culture, exploring sources and methodologies, heritage and contemporary challenges. The conference will conclude with a rich cultural programme.
Conference partners: the Vilnius Academy of Arts (Panemune Castle), the Lithuanian National Museum of Art (Vilnius Picture Gallery), the National Museum of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania).
This conference is one of the activities of the project “Strengthening of R&D activities of the Vytautas Kavolis Transdisciplinary Institute of Social and Humanities Sciences (SOCMTEP)”. The project is funded by the Lithuanian Science Council and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania, contract no. S-A-UEI-23-13 (12/27/2023). Funding program – “University Excellence Initiative” (No. V-940).

The conference is included in the plan approved by the Lithuanian government for celebrating the Year of Motiejus Kazimieras Sarbievijus and Baroque Literature in 2025.
