Networking Roadmap of the V. Kavolis Institute is Prepared

During the period from 3 September 2024 to 31 March 2025, the Vytautas Kavolis Transdisciplinary Research Institute carried out the project “Development of a Networking Roadmap by the V. Kavolis Transdisciplinary Research Institute to Strengthen Research Directions and Facilitate Participation in Horizon Europe Programme Calls” under the Acceleration of the Horizon Europe Programme. The project was carried out by a team of researchers from the Institute, consisting of the project leader Prof. Dr. Renata Legenzova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Asta Gaigalienė and Dr. Gintarė Leckė. The project was funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, under contract No. 10-038-T-0145.

The aim of the project was to develop a Networking Roadmap that would enable the Institute to position itself as a central hub in a wider scientific network, to enhance its research themes, to strengthen the competencies of its researchers and to accelerate its involvement in Horizon Europe Programme calls with the aim of successful participation. The Roadmap will guide the Institute’s research community in identifying relevant research themes, forming international research and project teams, and producing high-quality scientific outputs. Additionally, it will assist the Institute’s administration in identifying strategic partners, developing research infrastructure, building scientific capacity, and making other important management decisions.

The Institute’s priority networking areas for 2025-2030

Following a comprehensive analysis of the Institute’s external and internal environments and a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis, four priority networking areas have been identified which will form the basis for the development of the Institute’s networking over the period 2025-2030. The first priority area, Development of a Partnership Network, focuses on the formalised and systematic development and operationalisation of a partnership network. The second priority area, Strengthening Thematic Relevance, addresses the alignment of institutional networking with research areas and scientific competencies that address the European Union’s priority horizontal themes. The third priority area, Enhancing Visibility, focuses on the transparent and timely communication of the expertise and scientific activities/achievements of the Institute’s researchers. The fourth priority area, Support and Cultivation of a Networking Culture, emphasises the promotion of a culture of networking and sharing scientific plans/achievements within targeted, high-impact audiences. The project also resulted in the development of an activity plan for the implementation of each priority area and the formulation of indicators to measure achievements.

The Networking Roadmap was presented to the Institute community at the Annual Reporting Meeting in March 2025.
