Growing Collaboration With the Helsinki Institute HSSH

On December 4-5, a team of researchers from the Helsinki University Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities (HSSH) visited the V. Kavolis Institute. During their visit, the guests from Helsinki shared their experiences and insights on initiating and implementing transdisciplinary research at the international seminar “Disciplines and their Boundaries”, organised by the V. Kavolis Institute.

During the visit, the Rector of Vytautas Magnus University, Prof. Juozas Augutis, and the Vice-Rector of Science, Prof. Julija Kiršienė, warmly welcomed the Director of the HSSH, Prof. Risto Kunelius, and Hannu Nieminen, Professor Emeritus of Helsinki University and a researcher at the V. Kavolis Institute. Together with the Director of the V. Kavolis Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jurga Bučaitė-Vilkė and the Head of Project Activities, Dr. Gintare Poce, meeting participants discussed the further cooperation between the two Institutes. The meeting aimed to strengthen the cooperation between the Institutes, which will lead to broader platforms for developing scientists’ competencies, substantial opportunities for attracting external funding, and joint activities to strengthen the methodological skills of early-career researchers.

The Helsinki Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities (HSSH) promotes, coordinates and supports multidisciplinary cooperation in the social sciences and humanities. The Institute aims to foster a research culture that creates new multidisciplinary and inspiring research collaborations and to promote the renewal of content and methodology in social sciences and humanities research.
