The Council, chaired by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania, includes representatives from four Lithuanian ministries, the Bank of Lithuania, the State Tax Inspectorate, ILTE, the Association of Banks of Lithuania, Vilnius University, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, and Junior Achievement Lithuania, alongside researchers from the Vytautas Kavolis Institute. This broad representation underscores the national priority of promoting financial literacy and highlights the involvement of diverse sectors of society.

The Council’s Role in Financial Education

The Council is tasked with coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the Public Financial Education Action Plan 2024–2028. This Plan establishes the main priorities for financial education in Lithuania and outlines specific measures and indicators to track progress. Its focus includes enhancing financial competence and entrepreneurial skills among children, young people, adults, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with particular emphasis on financial planning and management skills.

Beyond specific measures, the Plan aims to develop a long-term strategy to raise financial awareness across society. A key initiative under the Council’s oversight is the creation of a national financial literacy information platform, designed to serve individuals of all ages as well as SMEs.
